Edit your child's profile in Norton Family
Norton Family applies house rules based on the profile that you set up for the child. On the child profile settings page, you can edit device assignments, and change activity notification preferences. You can edit your child's profile at any time from the Norton website or Norton Family app for parents.
Norton website
- Sign in to your account.
- Select the child profile that you want to manage.
- Click View Profile.
- To update the display name of the child, click Edit under the child's profile.
- To receive notifications on the Norton Family app for parents, move the On/Off switch next to Parental App Notifications to On and then choose the sort of notifications you want to receive.
- To receive notifications via email, move the On/Off switch next to Parental Email Notifications to On and then choose the activities for which you want to receive email.
- Under Activity Report Frequency, choose the frequency at which you want to receive the report. You can choose weekly, monthly, or both.
- Under Manage Email Recipients, select the email address to which you want the notifications to be sent.
To add more email address, click Add Email, type the email address, and then click Add. You can Enable or Disable notifications to the email addresses at any time.You cannot edit or remove the primary email address. You can add up to five email addresses to which you want to receive notifications.
Norton Family parental app for Android
- Open Norton Family parental control app in Parent mode.
- Tap the child profile that you want to manage.
- Tap child profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
- In the child profile window, do the following:
- To change your child's profile picture, tap the more options icon and then tap Change Avtar.
You can choose a photo from your gallery or choose an Avtar or take a photo using your device camera. - To update your child's name, tap the more options icon and then tap Change Name.
- To change your child's profile picture, tap the more options icon and then tap Change Avtar.
- To manage the PIN, tap PIN and then move the On/Off switch. This PIN is used to unlock your child's device in an emergency.
You can use the same PIN for instant lock and Time Supervision as well. Tap Save when you are finished with PIN changes. - To manage Emergency contacts, tap Emergency Contacts, and then do one of the following: When you are finished making the changes, tap Save in the top-right corner to save the changes.
- To add a new contact, tap Add Contact, type the name and the phone number, and tap Add.
- To edit an existing contact, slide the contact towards the left and tap the edit icon. Make the changes to the contact information and tap Add.
- To remove an existing contact, slide the contact towards the left and tap the trash icon.
- To manage the devices used by your child, tap Child's Devices and then do one of the following:
- To add a new device, tap Add Device. Choose your child's device type and then follow the on-screen instructions.
- To change the device name, tap and hold the device and slide towards the left, and then tap the rename icon.
- To remove a device, tap and hold the device and slide it towards the left, and then tap the trash icon.
- To configure the notifications to be displayed on the Parental app, tap Parental App Notifications. To turn the Parental App Notification on or off, move the On/Off switch next to it. Select or deselect the Critical or Other Notifications to receive or stop those notifications. Tap Save.
- To configure the Norton Family email notifications about your child's online activities, tap Email Notifications and do the following:
- To turn the email notifications on or off, move the On/Off switch next to it.
- To configure the email notifications about your child's online activity, tap Parental Email Notifications. Select or deselect the notifications for your child's activities and then tap Save.
- To configure the Geofence Email Notifications, tap Geofence Email Notifications. To turn on or turn off the Geofence notifications, move the On/Off switch next to it. To receive or stop email notifications about your child's location activities, select or deselect the notifications. Tap Save.
- To configure the Activity Report Frequency, under Activity Report Frequency, tap the current frequency and choose Weekly, Monthly or Weekly and Monthly. Tap Save.
- To configure the email recipients to receive Norton Family notifications, tap Manage Email Recipients and do the following:
- To add a new parent email address, tap Add Email. Type the email address and tap Add.
- To edit an existing email address, tap the email address and slide towards the left, and tap the edit icon. Edit the email address and tap Add.
- To remove an email address, tap the email address and slide toward the left and tap the trash icon.
You cannot remove your primary email address from the Email Addresses list. If you do not want to receive Norton Family notifications on your Norton account email address, you can deselect it.
- When you finish configuring the profile settings, tap Save in the top-right corner.
Norton Family parental app for iOS
- Open Norton Family for Parents app.
- Tap the child profile that you want to manage and swipe towards left.
- Tap Edit Profile.
- In the Edit Profile window, do the following:
- To change your child's profile picture, tap the current avatar and then choose an avatar or a photo from your gallery. You can also take a photo and set that as the profile picture.
- Depending on your situation, edit the name or year of birth of your child. By default, house rules are applied based on the child's age.
- Tap Save.
