Fix repeated Application Blocking alerts from Norton for Mac
The Application Blocking feature lets you configure the firewall rules for the different applications on your Mac. Based on these settings, Norton Firewall allows or blocks the Internet access for the applications on your Mac.
The Application Blocking alert appears when a new application that is not configured in Application Blocking settings, tries to access the Internet. In the Application Blocking alert window, you can choose to either allow or block the Internet access for the application.
In some instances, the Application Blocking rule for an application does not apply and results in repeated Application Blocking alerts. To fix this problem, remove the Application Blocking rule for the application, and add it again.
Remove the Application Blocking rule
-
Open your Norton device security product.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
-
In the Norton product main window, click Advanced or Settings.
-
In the left pane, click Firewall.
-
In the right pane, next to Application Blocking, click the settings icon.
-
In the Application Blocking window, from the list of applications, select the application that you see the repeated Norton product alerts for.
-
Click Remove.
-
In the confirmation window, click Remove.
-
Click Done.
-
Exit all programs and restart your Mac.
Set up a new Application Blocking rule
