FAQ: Alerts and notifications
Why am I receiving more than one alert for the same application?
You may be notified multiple times for the same activity, once when the application is submitted and then again when it is reported to each of the three national credit bureaus. When you apply for credit not all companies report to each credit bureau at the same time and they may not report to all three bureaus. Activity may show on different LifeLock data sources, triggering additional alerts. LifeLock has multiple data sources and different activities can generate multiple alerts.
In some cases, a company may submit your information to find you the best rates on an application. For example, when shopping for an auto or mortgage quote, the companies may reach out to multiple lenders simultaneously.
Which cell phone carriers does Norton support for text message alerts?
Our text message alerts work on most major cell phone carriers (see below). If your phone is able to receive SMS text messages, you should be able to receive text message alerts from LifeLock. If you are unsure, check with your cell phone carrier.
-
AT&T
-
Verizon
-
T-Mobile
-
Sprint
-
ACG (C-Spire, Carolina West, Ntelos, Cellcom)
-
U.S Cellular
-
Interop
Message and data rates may apply. Read our Terms and Conditions for other important information related to our text message alert service.
Will I be charged to receive alerts by text message?
We won't charge you for the text message alerts we send to you. We can't speak for your mobile carrier though, which may charge you depending on your plan. If you're unsure, it may be a good idea to check with them. Depending on your mobile plan and text message program, you may incur data charges for sending or receiving text messages.
What could trigger an alert?
Here are some examples of behavior that could trigger an alert up to 30 days later:
-
Applying for credit, services, or refinancing with the company or bank listed in your alert.
-
Making changes to an existing account, or being added as an authorized user on any account with the company or bank listed in your alert.
-
Applying for or inquiring about new services, store rewards cards, airline rewards programs or sweepstakes/drawings with the company or bank listed in your alert.
