The servers' IP addresses are located in different countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Brazil, and they are optimized to ensure the best possible Internet browsing experience.

What information can my Internet service provider (ISP) and websites see when I use Norton VPN product?

When you use Norton VPN product, your data is encrypted so that your Internet service provider can see only the amount of traffic passing through their servers and not the encrypted data.

If you do not use Norton VPN product, your ISP can see what websites you visit, your online activities, IM chats, and any files you download or upload. The websites you visit can also see the browser you use, the operating system of your device, and your location.

Ad Tracker Blocking

Each mobile device has a unique advertising ID which may be used to track your details like name, address, and age. Advertising IDs may be used by app developers to create targeted advertisements that are relevant to you. The Ad Tracker Blocking feature protects you and blocks targeted advertisements.

    In the My Norton window, click the drop-down arrow next to Secure VPN, and click Ad Tracker Blocking.

    Ad Tracker blocking works only when Virtual Private Network is turned on.

  3. In the VPN Configuration screen, tap Ad Tracking Blocker.

  4. In the Ad Tracker Blocking screen. move the slider to enable Block Ad Trackers.

  2. Tap the Menu icon on the top-left corner of the screen and click Settings.

  3. In the Settings screen, tap Privacy and then tap Ad Tracking Blocker.

Kill Switch

Kill Switch disconnects your device from the Internet should your VPN get disconnected. This helps maintain the privacy of your IP address (key to identifying your location and online activities) and other personal information should the VPN connection drop.

To enable Kill Switch on your device, depending on your operating system, choose one of the following:

Windows

To know the version number of your Norton product, open your Norton product and navigate to Settings or go to Help > About.

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton Secure VPN (version 6.x and below)

  1. Launch Norton Secure VPN app on Windows.

  2. Click the Settings icon at the top of the app.

  3. In the General tab, next to Kill Switch, move the slider to enable the feature.

Norton Secure VPN (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN app on your desktop.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, under Overview, click the VPN Preferences tab.

  3. In the VPN Preferences tab, move the slider to enable Use Kill Switch if VPN disconnects.

Norton 360 (version 22.x and below)

  1. Open your Norton 360 app.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Secure VPN, from the drop-down menu, select Settings.

  2. In the Settings window, next to Kill Switch, move the slider to enable the feature.

Norton 360 (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open your Norton 360 app.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, click Privacy on the left-side of the page.

  3. On the Privacy window, under Secure VPN, click Open.

  4. On the Secure VPN window, click the Settings tab.

  5. On the Settings window, move the slider to enable Use Kill Switch if VPN disconnects.

  1. On your Mac home screen, click on the Apple menu and click System Settings.

  2. In the pop-up window that appears, click Network on the left side of the screen.

  3. In the Network window, under Other Services, click Norton.

  4. In the Norton window, toggle Connect on demand to enable the feature.

  5. Click Apply.

Mac OS 13

  1. On your Mac home screen, click on the Apple menu and click System Settings.

  2. In the System Settings window, click VPN on the left-side of the screen.

  3. In the VPN window, next to Norton, click the Sample alt text icon.

  4. In the pop-up that appears, on the right pane, toggle Connect on demand to enable the feature.

  5. Click Ok.

Norton Secure VPN (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN app on your desktop.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, under Overview, click the VPN Preferences tab.

  1. Launch Norton VPN.

  3. In the Settings screen, under VPN Preferences, move the slider to enable Kill Switch.

Wi-Fi Security

Wi-Fi Security in Norton Secure VPN scans the wireless network that your device is connected to in order to detect common network threats such as man-in-the-middle attacks. This feature is available only on Android and iOS platforms.

In order to scan your Wi-Fi network, you need to provide VPN access to your device's location. We will not save your location information, nor use it to track you.

Split Tunneling

The Split Tunneling feature lets you securely direct and encrypt your choice of apps by selecting the traffic you wish to exclude from VPN.

Depending on your device, choose one of the following to access Split Tunnel.

Windows

To know the version number of your Norton product, open your Norton product and navigate to Settings or go to Help > About.

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton Secure VPN (version 6.x and below)

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN app on your desktop.

  2. Click the Settings icon at the top of the Norton Secure VPN app and click Split Tunnel.

  3. In the Split Tunnel page, move the slider to enable Exclude apps from your Secure VPN traffic.

  4. Click Add an Application.

    In the Add Another Application window, select the application that you want to exclude from the Secure VPN traffic and click Open.

Norton Secure VPN (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN app on your desktop.

  2. In the Overview section, click the VPN Preferences tab.

  3. In the VPN Preferences tab, move the slider to enable Enable VPN split tunneling.

  4. To exclude apps from VPN traffic, click Manage Apps under Split Tunneling.

    In the screen that appears, click Add Application and select the application that you want to exclude from the VPN traffic and click Open.

  5. Click Save.

Norton 360 (version 22.x and below)

  1. Open your Norton 360 app.

    In the My Norton window, click the drop-down arrow next to Secure VPN, and click Settings.

  2. In the Settings window, next to Split Tunnel, click the > icon.

  3. In the Split Tunnel window, move the slider to enable the feature.

    In the App Excluded section, click Add and select the application that you want to exclude from the Secure VPN traffic.

  4. In the alert message that you receive, click OK.

    The newly selected apps will be excluded from your VPN traffic when you turn on VPN next time.

Norton 360 (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open your Norton 360 app.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, click Privacy on the left-side of the page.

  3. On the Privacy window, under Secure VPN, click Open.

  4. On the Secure VPN window, click the Settings tab.

  5. On the Settings tab, move the slider to Enable VPN Split Tunneling.

  6. To exclude apps from VPN traffic, click Manage Apps under Split Tunneling.

    In the screen that appears, click Add Application and select the application that you want to exclude from the VPN traffic and click Open.

Norton VPN (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton VPN on your desktop.

  2. On the home screen, click Settings on the left-side of the page.

  3. On the Settings screen, under VPN Preferences, move the slider to Enable VPN split tunneling.

  4. To exclude apps from using Secure VPN, click Manage Apps.

  5. In the screen that appears, click Add Application and follow the on-screen instructions to exclude an app.

    To remove an app from the exclusion list, in the Exclude specific apps from VPN screen, click Remove next to the app that needs to be removed from the list.

Android

To know the version number of your Norton product, open the Norton app and tap the Menu icon > Settings > About.

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton Secure VPN (version 3.x and below)

Turn off and turn on Secure VPN to apply the changes made for Split Tunneling.
  1. Launch Secure VPN.

  2. Tap the Menu icon on the top-left corner of the screen and click Settings.

  3. In the Settings screen, move the slider to enable Split Tunneling.

  4. To exclude an app, tap Exclude Apps under Split Tunneling.

    In the Exclude Apps screen, tap the app that you want to exclude from Secure VPN traffic.

Norton 360 (version 5.x and above)

  1. Launch Norton 360 app.

  2. Tap the menu icon on the top-right corner of the screen and tap Settings.

  3. In the Settings screen, tap Privacy.

  4. In the Privacy screen, tap Split Tunneling and move the slider to enable it.

  5. To exclude an app under Split Tunneling, under Exclude specific apps from using VPN, tap the checkbox next to the app that you want to exclude.

  6. Turn off and turn on Secure VPN to apply the changes made for Split Tunneling.

Norton VPN (version 4.x and above)

  1. Launch Norton VPN.

  2. Tap the Settings icon on the top-right corner of the screen and tap VPN Preferences.

  3. In the VPN Preferences screen, tap Split Tunneling.

  4. In the Split Tunneling screen, move the slider to enable the feature.

  5. To exclude an app under Split Tunneling, under Exclude specific apps from using VPN, tap the checkbox next to the app that you want to exclude.

    Turn off and turn on VPN to apply the changes made for Split Tunneling.

Using P2P with Norton VPN

When you use P2P to perform downloading activities, sensitive details such as your location and IP address can be leaked, or stolen by cybercriminals. Norton Secure VPN connects you to a region that lets you use P2P conveniently without compromising on your data.

If Norton Secure VPN detects an activity using P2P, it prompts you to change to a region that lets you use torrents.

To connect to a region that is optimized for P2P using VPN, depending on your device, choose one of the following:

  3. In the Region screen, tap Torrent-optimized region.

    Norton Secure VPN connects to a region that lets you use torrents from your Android device.

Norton 360 (version 5.x and above)

  1. Launch Norton 360.

  2. Tap Privacy at the bottom of the screen.

  3. On the Privacy screen, tap VPN.

  4. On the Privacy screen, tap the drop-down list next to Fastest location, tap Optimized for P2P file transfers.

  5. On the Fastest location screen, select the geographic region you want from the list.

Norton VPN (version 4.x and above)

  1. Launch Norton VPN.

  2. On the home screen, tap the drop-down next to the country name.

  3. In the Change VPN Location screen, tap Peer-to-peer(P2P).

Auto-Connect VPN

The Auto-connect VPN feature helps to re-connect automatically when the Secure VPN connection drops.

Launch at Startup

The Launch at Startup feature loads the Norton Secure VPN services whenever the system boots.

You need to connect manually to Norton Secure VPN after launching the app if the Auto-Connect feature is in disabled state.
