Retrieve data using Norton Bootable Recovery Tool
If your computer gets infected, you cannot boot into your operating system. In some cases, your data gets inaccessible due to virus attacks or other infections.
Norton Bootable Recovery Tool helps you to retrieve data, if you:

Cannot access your data due to infections

Cannot boot your computer
You must use a USB storage device to retrieve your data using Norton Bootable Recovery Tool. Ensure that your USB storage device is formatted in FAT32 or NTFS file system.
Ensure that the USB storage device stays plugged in when you retrieve your data using Norton Bootable Recovery Tool. Also ensure that the USB storage device has enough free space to accommodate the retrieved data.
Retrieve data:

Insert the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool DVD or USB drive that you created.

Turn on or restart your computer, then enter the BIOS mode by pressing the key that appears on the screen immediately after your computer restarts.

Select the DVD or the USB drive on which you created Norton Bootable Recovery Tool, and then press Enter. If you use a UEFI-enabled computer, select the recovery media under the Legacy Boot option instead of the UEFI Boot option. The recovery media is the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool DVD or USB drive.

In the Welcome to NBRT page, select the Boot option. If the booting fails, then select Boot (Basic Video) option.

In the Select Language drop-down list, select your preferred language, and then click OK.

Read the License and Services Agreement, and then click Agree to launch the tool.

If you have installed multiple operating system on your computer, Norton Bootable Recovery Tool lets you select the relevant operating system from which you want to retrieve the data.

In the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool main window, click Retrieve your files.

In the Select Files to Retrieve window, under the Source column, select the file(s) or folder(s) that you want to retrieve.

Click Next.

If you have plugged in multiple USB storage device on your computer, Norton Bootable Recovery Tool lets you select the USB Storage device on which you want to retrieve the data.

Click Retrieve Files.

Norton Bootable Recovery Tool retrieves the files and displays them in the Retrieve Files completed window. The Retrieve Files completed window lists the following:

Retrieve completion status.
-
Total number of files retrieved and the retrieved files size.

Destination path on which the retrieved files are located.
-
Total number of file(s) that were not retrieved and the associated error details.

Click Done.
