Fix problem opening Norton Secure VPN on Windows

If you cannot open Norton Secure VPN from the desktop icon or from the Start menu, you can open it from the system tray or notification area. In the bottom-right corner of the screen, double-click the Norton Secure VPN icon to open it. If you don't find the Norton Secure VPN icon in the system tray or notification area, click the small up arrow on the taskbar to show the hidden icons and check if you can find it.

On Windows 10, if you are in Tablet mode, you need to switch to Desktop mode first. Click the Action Center icon in the notification area or system tray, and then click Desktop Mode.

If you still cannot start Norton Secure VPN, try restarting your computer. If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Secure VPN.

Restart your computer

  1. Exit all the open programs.

  2. Restart your computer.

    If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Secure VPN.

Uninstall Norton Secure VPN

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    appwiz.cpl 
  3. In the list of currently installed programs, select Norton Secure VPN, and click Remove or Uninstall.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall Norton Secure VPN.

Reinstall Norton Secure VPN

  1. Sign in to your account.

  2. In the My Norton portal, under Secure VPN, click Download.

  3. Click Agree & Download, and then save the installer.

  4. Double click the installer file that you downloaded.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
